Artist Statement:
Blankets were one of my grandmother’s unspoken displays of affection and nurture. There would always be a blanket draped on the couch, in the guest bedroom, and extras in the closets to offer whenever we would visit or stay over. I think she got it from my great grandma, it was that way at her place, too. The majority of them were made by either my grandmother or my great grandmother. After the news of her passing, I wrapped myself in one of her blankets. We started the process of going through the items left behind, and I scanned items to convey who my grandmother was, transferring the images onto handmade paper I made out of old coloring books found in her closet.
